This update aims to better support employees during business trips.

As of 1 April 2025, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic has introduced new measures to adjust meal allowance amounts for business trips. This update is based on the rising prices of meals and non-alcoholic beverages in restaurant catering.

Key Changes:

  • For business trips lasting between 5 to 12 hours, the meal allowance is now €8.80.
  • For trips lasting between 12  to 18 hours, the allowance is increased to €13.10.
  • For trips exceeding 18 hours, the new allowance is €19.50.

Additionally, the optimal value of the meal voucher is set at €8.80, while the minimum value is €6.60. Employees are entitled to these increased amounts with immediate effect.

Employers are required to arrange for meals or meal allowances. If opting for meal allowances, the minimum employer’s contribution is 55% of the value of the meal voucher.

These changes aim to better support employees during business trips and ensure that meal allowances are in line with current market prices.
