Major Changes in Supplementary Insurance in Slovenia

These changes are expected to simplify the supplementary insurance process and provide more consistent coverage for all citizens.

From 1 January 2024, Slovenia introduced significant changes in the field of supplementary insurance. This update aims to streamline the insurance process and ensure better regulation by the state.

Legislative Changes

  • Transition to State Regulation: Supplementary insurance will no longer be offered by private insurance companies. Instead, it will be managed by the Institute for Health Insurance of Slovenia (ZZZS).
  • Fixed Premium: The premium for this insurance is set at 35 EUR and will be deducted directly from employees’ salaries by their employers..
