In Hungary, the rate of mental health conditions has increased from 14% in 2019 to 33% in the past four years.

In today’s fast-paced world, mental health and rising healthcare costs are becoming increasingly important topics. This blog post highlights recent developments in Hungary’s health and benefits sector.

Recent developments in Hungary’s health & benefits sector

  • Mental Health Aid and programme: Stigma towards people with mental health problems is a growing issue worldwide. In Hungary, the rate of mental health conditions has increased from 14% in 2019 to 33% in the past four years. To address this, we are offering clients a stand-alone solution of mental first aid combined with a mental health programme in cooperation with Minder, an external service provider. Minder provides measurable and effective support, including e-learning modules in both English and Hungarian, aimed at improving organisational performance in various work environments. This initiative is expected to bring a tangible competitive advantage across all industries and employee groups.
  • Rising Healthcare Costs Due to Inflation: Although the inflation rate has significantly decreased compared to the previous year, these changes will still be reflected in health insurance premiums. Health care utilisation is also a factor which may significantly alter the annual premium upon renewal. Local carriers are introducing new solutions to help customers reduce costs, such as the introduction of deductibles in medical services and online consultations in some medical fields. Other health and benefits products, such as Group Life and Accident or Travel Insurance, are not affected.
