Recent amendments to Croatian Labour Law are set to reshape the working conditions and benefits for employees across the country

Recent amendments to Croatian Labour Law are set to reshape the working conditions and benefits for employees across the country. These changes, which are expected to have a significant impact on both employers and employees, aim to improve the overall well-being of the workforce. In this blog post, we explore the key updates and their implications.

Tax-Free Occasional Bonuses: Employers can now provide tax-free occasional bonuses such as Christmas bonuses and vacation pay, up to 700 EUR per year. Additionally, employees can receive bonuses for work results of up to 1,120 EUR per year.

Systematic Examinations for Individuals Over 40: Systematic examinations have begun on a  national level for individuals over 40 who have not seen a doctor in two years. As part of this, oncology referrals will be prioritised to ensure maximum care for patients with suspected malignant diseases.

Regulations on Doctors’ Dual Work: New regulations are being proposed to address the dual work of doctors. Doctors will not be able to obtain a permit to work in a private clinic if the waiting lists in their department exceed 150 days and if they do not have at least five years of work experience in their field.

Improving employee wellbeing

These amendments reflect a commitment to improving the overall wellbeing of employees and ensuring a healthier work environment. It is crucial for both employers and employees to stay updated on these changes and understand their implications.
